Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Faces Sexual Assault Allegations from 2015

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the embattled hip-hop mogul, is facing a new lawsuit alleging that he drugged and sexually assaulted an aspiring male singer in 2015. The lawsuit, filed by Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee in New York County Supreme Court, centers on the claims of an unnamed man identified as “John Doe.” The plaintiff is seeking damages for the physical and emotional distress he allegedly suffered as a result of the incident.

The Allegations Against Diddy

According to the lawsuit, John Doe was a young, up-and-coming rapper and singer who had been receiving invitations to perform at well-known venues across California. His career seemed promising, with opportunities to open for established artists at nightclubs in the Los Angeles area.

The alleged assault took place at an after-party following one of Doe’s performances at QC’s 20/20, a nightclub and concert venue in Montebello, California. Combs reportedly attended the show because his record label, Bad Boy Records, was interested in Doe’s talent. Before Doe performed, a “longtime and well-known associate of Combs” allegedly informed him that Combs had heard about his skills and would be watching his set closely.

The associate also told Doe that if his performance impressed Combs, he could secure a record deal with Bad Boy Records and studio time with the music icon himself.

What Happened at the After-Party?

After his performance, Doe attended an after-party at the venue, where he encountered a scene filled with drugs, alcohol, and “well-known artists and entertainers.” According to the lawsuit, Combs sent Doe a drink made with his vodka brand, Ciroc. Shortly after consuming the beverage, Doe allegedly began feeling lightheaded and eventually lost consciousness.

While drifting in and out of consciousness, Doe claims he observed Combs and his entourage engaging in group sexual activities with other attendees, many of whom appeared to be either drugged, unconscious, or paid escorts.

The lawsuit alleges that Doe woke up to find his pants removed and Combs groping him. Doe believes Combs was performing oral sex on him during the encounter. When he tried to resist, Combs allegedly threatened him, warning that he could “easily contact his manager and ruin any chances he had of succeeding in the music industry.”

Doe’s Escape and Silence

Fearing retaliation, Doe feigned compliance when Combs allegedly instructed him to have sex with a woman he didn’t know. Instead of complying, Doe claimed he pretended to go to the restroom and used the opportunity to sneak out of the venue.

Out of fear of being “blackballed” in the music industry, Doe refrained from reporting the incident at the time. However, the lawsuit states that the alleged assault derailed his career and left him emotionally scarred.

“This assault greatly affected Doe’s passion for music, leading him to abandon his aspirations for many years,” the lawsuit reads. “The reality and dark underbelly of the industry, as revealed through his encounter with Combs, ended his desire and dreams to pursue a career in that world.”

Combs’ Response to the Allegations

In response to the lawsuit, Combs’ attorneys issued a statement to USA TODAY, denying all accusations against him:

“Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone — man or woman, adult or minor.”

Combs, who was arrested in September 2024 on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution, remains in custody at the Special Housing Unit in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. His trial is scheduled to begin on May 5.

Companies Named in the Lawsuit

The lawsuit doesn’t just target Combs personally; it also names several of his companies, including Bad Boy Records and Daddy’s House Recordings. These entities are accused of enabling Combs’ alleged misconduct by failing to implement sufficient policies and procedures to prevent sexual battery.

The plaintiff argues that these companies turned a blind eye to Combs’ behavior, allowing him to exploit vulnerable individuals pursuing careers in the music industry.

The Impact on John Doe

The lawsuit outlines the profound impact the alleged assault had on Doe’s life. In addition to derailing his music career, the incident reportedly caused him significant personal damages, including:

  • Physical pain and suffering
  • Mental anguish
  • Emotional torment
  • A loss of trust in the music industry

Doe claims the experience shattered his dreams and left him traumatized, forcing him to step away from his aspirations for years.

A Pattern of Alleged Misconduct

The lawsuit describes the alleged incident as part of a broader pattern of behavior by Combs, accusing him of believing he was “above the law.” It states:

“The conduct described herein is shockingly typical of how defendant Sean Combs conducted himself for many years. Sean Combs believed he was above the law. He is not.”

This case adds to the growing list of allegations against the music mogul, who faces multiple charges related to sex trafficking and racketeering.
