The internet has been going wild since Bebe Rexha and Azealia Banks went at it on X (formerly Twitter). What started as a innocent comment turned into a full blown public feud and fans are divided on who said what and why. Here’s how it all went down.
Bebe Rexha and Azealia Banks Are Clashing on X
It all started when Bebe Rexha made her Met Gala debut and stepped onto one of the biggest stages in fashion. Not everyone was impressed. Azealia Banks took to X to share her unfiltered thoughts on Rexha’s appearance and suggested she might be going through hormonal changes.
Banks wrote, “Sis gives me – hormonal birth control implant or something,” adding, “It’s giving implanon/ nuvaring she needs removed or depo shot that needs to stop happening (I’m not even tryna play her).” Her comments were seen as a body shaming and fans and Rexha clapped back.
Bebe Rexha Fires Back: Therapy Over Trolls
Instead of staying silent, Rexha came back with some shade and a message about mental health. She suggested therapy might be more helpful than throwing shade.
“Something that helps with the deep rooted sadness and chaos you keep projecting,” Rexha tweeted. “Healing looks good on everyone. Try it.”
Rexha also shared how antidepressants like Lexapro have helped her and told Banks to get help for herself.
In another now deleted post, Rexha opened up about her personal struggles and shared details about her infertility and a failed pregnancy. “I have PCOS and struggle with infertility,” she wrote. “I’ve been carrying that pain in silence.”
Rexha added, “I never owed anyone that truth but maybe now you’ll think twice before commenting on anyone’s body.”
Azealia Banks Digs Deeper: The Weight Gain Debate
Undeterred by Rexha’s response, Banks kept going, focusing on the side effects of Lexapro. She said the medication causes weight gain and referenced her own experience.
“You should really get off Lexapro, lmao, weight gain is a TRADEMARK side effect of Lexapro,” Banks tweeted. She went on to detail her own history with psych meds, saying Lexapro made her depression worse and contributed to her struggles.
In another post, Banks offered to be Rexha’s “support sister,” telling her to lower her dosage. “Lexapro is not working for you, girl,” she wrote. “Them long tapers are a scam, too. I can tell ur up to like 40mg. Just drop to 20mg.”
Why This Matters?
This isn’t just two celebrities beefing—it’s about body shaming, mental health stigma and empathy. While Banks’ initial comments were harsh, Rexha’s response showed how hurtful those comments can be.
At the same time, Banks’ talk of medication side effects brings up the complexity of mental health treatment. Both of these women bring different perspectives to the table so this feud is worth digging deeper than the surface level drama.
What Fans Are Saying?
Fans are speaking out on this. Some are with Rexha on being kind and understanding, others appreciate Banks being real about mental health. Regardless of which side you’re on, we all know social media feuds always reveal deeper societal issues that need to be addressed.
